Financial Aid

AKTO offers a range of scholarships for particularly strong full-time students in its Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees validated by Middlesex University.

Bachelor of Arts Scholarships

Scholarships cover 25 percent of fees in the first year. For the remainder of the degree course the student is liable for the full amount of the fees. Successful applicants receive an AKTO Scholar certificate.

Applicants must furnish the College with:

  • A certified copy of their High School graduation certificate or equivalent level certificate. This must state the applicant's grade upon graduation. An overall grade of 16 out of 20 or higher is required.

AND

  • A certification of their admittance to a state institution of higher education (university or polytechnic) in Greece.

OR

  • When applicable, a certificate of their results in special exams they have sat as part of the process of applying to art and design degree courses in the public university system.

Application and selection process

Applications may be filed from the day Greek university entrance exam results are announced. The deadline is September 30. Applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee, consisting of the Academic Director, the the Link Tutor who co-ordinates students in the BA and MA programme and the Financial Director. The Committee's selections are then approved by AKTO's Board of Directors. Successful applicants are notified by mail before October 10, when the winter semester begins.

The number of scholarships offered each year and the percentage of the fees they cover varies from year to year. An announcement concerning each year's scholarships is made in June.

The scholarship takes the form of a discount on the February and April instalments of the fees.

AKTO scholars are required to:

  • Not exceed the number of classes they are allowed to miss within a given syllabus.
  • Conduct themselves in the spirit of the College's Regulations  as outlined in articles 19, 20 and 21 of the Regulations (including arriving in time for classes, submitting coursework and exam books on time, not disrupting classes etc.) .
  • Avoid criminal conduct.
  • Be in compliance with their schedule of fee payments as agreed in the enrolment form at the beginning of the year.

Failure to observe these points will lead to irrevocable loss of scholarship privileges.

Applicants may not apply for more than one scholarship.

Scholarships are strictly personal. A successful applicant who is unable to attend the College may not pass on his/her scholarship to someone else, but may retain the right to make use of the scholarship at a later time.
