Comic Design is the art of creating an illustrated sequential narrative. It could be described as the art of drama on paper.
To create dramatic strips an artist must learn how to draw
stand-alone caricatures and sketches, teach them to emote and to
move.
At AKTO, the sequential illustrated narrative is seen in
its broader context - as a crossroads between literature and visual
art.
AKTO’s Cartoon-Sketch-Comic degree is a three-year programme resulting in a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Middlesex University.
Students are trained as artists, scriptwriters and character creators, and as animators. They are thus fully equipped to diversify into political cartoons or caricature art, or go into the dramatic media.
AKTO's Sketch-Comic-Cartoon graduates find work in every branch
of the publishing industry as comic authors, graphic novelists,
cartoonists, and illustrators. Their work has numerous multimedia
applications. They are supremely well-equipped for the media
industry, including advertising, animation, film and television,
where they can work as storyboard artists in all stages of
pre-production, helping to visualise a script and bring it to life.
As the creator of Greece's first Cartoon-Sketch-Comic degree
programme, AKTO has helped to shape the labour market and energised
creative publishing.
